Alexandria International School has been listening and responding to the needs of families throughout the province of Alessandria, Italy, since 1993. It is the only international school in Alessandria providing care and education for children aged 6 months to 19 years, with over 20 nationalities represented in the student body.<br />

Head of School
Philip O’Gara
Philip joined ISP as Head of School at Alexandria International School, Alessandria, Italy in May 2023. He has worked with American, British, Irish, Italian, and International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculums throughout his 25-year career, in all phases of k-12 education. He has an honours degree in music, a postgraduate teaching diploma from Trinity College Dublin and a master’s degree in international education from Endicott College. <br />
Originally from Ireland, Philip has spent most of his professional career working in private and paritaria schools in Italy; for ICS Milan, where he was Head of School and as Music Teacher and Head of Performing Arts at international schools in Rome and Milan. He led Smiling International School, Ferrara through the process of becoming an IB World School authorized to deliver the IBDP and is a CIS/NEASC Accreditation Evaluator. <br />
He has collaborated with investment funds and private Italian schools to develop international education opportunities in Italy. With VIE Education/Swiss Education Group, he has collaborated on the development of online IB Career-related CRS courses with 3rd level institutions and most recently on the development of an English and football course with Bucksmore Education/Inter Academy. <br />
In his spare time, Philip likes to keep fit running, cycling, and skiing and tries to maintain his piano and singing skills. He is the owner of a Lagotto Romagnolo - a truffle-hunting dog named Bruno - and together with his wife and three children, can be found roaming the Piedmont hills in search of a Tuber Magnatum (a type of truffle) or one of the many wonderful restaurants in the area.
