Head of School

Alexander Bennett
With over three decades of active involvement in the global educational landscape, I've dedicated myself to the growth and development of learners across diverse cultures. The foundation of my journey was laid at Taipei American School in Taiwan, where I initially stepped into the role of a first-grade educator. The impact of this experience was profound, steering my ambitions towards a lifelong commitment to education. This voyage continued with successive teaching roles in Hawaii and the Philippines, each contributing to the mosaic of my professional evolution.
A fervent pursuit of knowledge paralleled my career journey. The pursuit culminated in the acquisition of a Master's degree in Teaching and Curriculum from Michigan State University. Subsequently, I solidified my expertise by obtaining a degree in Education Administration (K-12) from Western Washington University.
Transitioning into the realm of school administration marked a pivotal phase in my odyssey. I assumed leadership positions as a principal at distinguished institutions including the American School of Asunción in Paraguay, The American School of Puerto La Cruz in Venezuela, and the Columbus School in Medellin, Colombia. Progressing further, I embraced the mantle of Head of School at prominent establishments such as the International School of Panama, Myanmar International School, and the International School Eastern Seaboard in Thailand.
My educational philosophy is rooted in the conviction that educators in the contemporary and competitive landscape bear the responsibility of cultivating a robust academic environment. This entails offering a rich tapestry of experiences that encourage exploration, investigation, and active participation, tailored to the strengths, interests, and values of each student. As the new Head of School at BSI, my focus remains steadfast on preserving our existing leadership initiatives while infusing innovative real-world opportunities across all grade levels from PK to 12th grade.
BSI's commitment to the PYP, MYP, and DP IB Programs is unwavering, emblematic of our dedication to personalized and appropriately challenging educational journeys. As an IB World School, we staunchly believe in the potential for all students to thrive irrespective of their surroundings. This belief finds expression through our provision of accessible resources that enhance learning and our commitment to differentiated instruction. In conclusion, I proudly affirm BSI's status as an inclusive institution where students embody the essence of the IB mission—a dedication to compassionate lifelong learning that embraces diverse perspectives.
