Colegio La Colina

Colegio La Colina is a 27-year-old institution with a small community of 728 children and 90 teachers. Our school is located between Bogotá and La Calera at approx. 3.000 meters above sea level. We are a non-confessional, bilingual school, and have been a part of ISP since 2019. We welcome learners ages 4 to age 17/ 18 ranging from Kinder 4 (start of our early years programme) to grade 11 (highest grade of high school education in Colombian programmes). <br /> School premises extend over 18, 430 mt. in buildings of 3 to 4 stories high, with 39 classrooms that were purposefully built between 2016 and 2018. These buildings are surrounded by native forests and a river that runs parallel to the east side of the school. Presently, classrooms hold anything from 22 to 26 students on average.

Juanita Arias de Escobar

Juanita is the proud mother of 3 young adults, and an experienced educator who has thrived in both national and international schools in Bogotá, with a track record of great success in pedagogical, administrative and leadership positions. Combining her knowledge in political science with educational training, she is experienced in creating and implementing curricula that challenge and motivate students to fully develop their personal ethics and passion for learning. <br /> Her graduate studies in English as a Second Language also provide a particular emphasis on English language development in all of the schools where Juanita has worked. It is faithful to establishing a team ethic, promoting international standards and consolidating a healthy and growth-oriented pedagogy. For Juanita, a strong sense of community is essential, and she does everything she can to bring parents, teachers and children together through a genuine 'open door' policy and hands-on approach. <br /> Her educational philosophy is supported by constructivist principles of engaging students in their learning, whether through observation, inquiry, questioning, creation or experimentation, to become the active centre of their academic growth, social and behavioural. This approach, enriched by project/activity-based learning and the development of interdisciplinary skills, is naturally aligned with La Colina's pedagogical approach.
