About the School

At Fairmont Schools, our mission is to develop and deliver a world-class P-12 education while focusing on the whole child. Head of School

Tobin Bechtel
With over 27 years working in independent and international education, Mr. Bechtel brings a wealth of expertise to Anaheim Hills. He most recently served for four years as the Head of School at a small, independent Nevada school. His desire to seek a larger, premier independent school led him to Fairmont.<br /> Mr. Bechtel’s resume extends beyond American independent schools to international education – spanning IB schools in Switzerland and Netherlands, and at Atlanta International School. He has held multiple roles including teacher (history, literature, philosophy), curriculum coordinator, principal, head of school, and board member. <br /> Mr. Bechtel holds BAs in History and Literature from The American University and spent a Junior Year Abroad at St. Andrews University, (Scotland). He also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from The College of New Jersey and has done graduate work with The University of Toronto (Canada) and University of Bath (UK). Mr. Bechtel volunteers with the International Baccalaureate as a curriculum and professional training developer, workshop leader, site visitor, and consultant. Additionally, he has served as a faculty member at Harvard Graduate School of Education for Project Zero's Teaching for Understanding and Future of Education programs.
