About the School

Lady Elizabeth School is the first center of British education in the Marina Alta region and a solidly consolidated educational project with a history of 35 years. It is a school with a strong international character in which students of more than 50 nationalities live together. Consequently, the main language in which the students communicate with each other is English and the linguistic immersion in this language is complete.

Head of School

CHRIS AKIN
Head of School, Lady Elizabeth School
Chris hails from Canada, although it has been some time since he lived there. As a true citizen of the world, Chris has led in schools in seven countries and on four continents, in a 25-year career in international education. Chris has taken on roles from Athletic Director to Head of School in diverse schools varying in size and curricular framework. <br /> Chris joined International Schools Partnership (ISP) in September 2018 to take on the role of Head of School at Lady Elizabeth Schoool, as the School opened its amazing new Secondary campus. He holds a M.Ed from The College of New Jersey in Educational Administration in addition to his B.Ed (Queen's) and BPHE/BA (History) from Queen's University in Canada. He is a frequent workshop presenter and visiting school accreditation leader. He has also led ground-breaking work as one of the committee chairs for the International Task Force on Child Protection.<br /> Chris is married to Sandra, a professional chef originally from Peru, and is father to Mathias, who graduated from LES in 2020 and is studying International Business in Barcelona and Tamara, currently finishing her sixth form studies and preparing for university in Canada next year. Their family loves to explore new places through food – visiting markets and tasting local cuisine – and Chris and his family are thrilled to call Javea home.<br /> Chris enjoys playing football, golf, tennis, squash, basketball and running, playing music, travel and above all, time with his family.
