David Flaschberger

Principal
Dave Flaschberger was one of the lucky ones in high school. He knew he wanted to be a teacher, and never considered anything else. After studying at the University of Illinois (History/Biology/French) he began his career in education in the US Peace Corps in Malawi. From there he’s worked in Japan, Paraguay, Canada, the US, Guatemala, Colombia and now Morocco. Through all his stops, he’s been a dedicated and charismatic educator whose main joy in life is making a difference in children’s lives. Education is a field based on relationships and hard work. Schools are vibrant communities, which need to be nurtured and pushed to improve. Dave ensures that he knows what is happening by always having a teaching load, to go along with his administrative duties. By remaining in the classroom (this year teaching physics and current events), Dave knows the students and their abilities first-hand, and is able to be a role model for all staff. As a constant presence in the hallways, classrooms and open spaces, the community at AAC knows Dave cares about them. He is a strong leader, but always willing to hear others’ opinions. His stewardship of AAC has made the school the best in Morocco. In his spare time, Dave enjoys travelling with his family and sports, especially basketball. He also is a movie buff and avid reader, even dabbling in fictional writing himself.
