Straits International School Rawang

Born and raised in Blyth, Northumberland, Steven began his career at Walker Technology College, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He progressed quickly to middle leadership and was Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) at the college after only one year in the profession. He served as Head of Lower School at the college before joining a school in Essex, UK as its Progress Leader. Steven then served as Head Teacher of Daubeny Academy, UK before taking on his first international position as Principal of Doha British School Al-Wakra Campus, Qatar. Under his leadership, the school achieved an ‘Outstanding’ grade in the British Schools Overseas standards and the highest possible grade in the Qatari National Schools Accreditation. Steven holds a Bachelor ofArts (Hons) in German and Linguistics from the University of Wales, Bangor, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Modern Foreign Languages from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He also earned the National Professional Qualification for Headship and serves as a Council of International Schools (CIS) Team Evaluator. Steven believes that building positive, harmonious communities effectively is core to education excellence. He prioritises cultivating an effective climate at schools, encouraging high standards of personal and professional conduct from all members of a school’s community.
